Studio Volunteer Training: Studio Production Practice

Studio Volunteer Training: Studio Production Practice
  • Cost: Free
  • Ages: 18+
  • Total Hours: 3 (1 x 3-hour session)
  • Capacity: 6

Take our series of FREE studio volunteer workshops and gain skills to join the crew on existing Open Signal cable series.

Learn television production skills while keeping independent, community media alive through our series of Studio Volunteer workshops. Each workshop focuses on one aspect of our industry-standard HD soundstages. Taking any of the workshops puts you on our studio crew volunteer list, making sure you keep and build on those skills by volunteering on an existing Open Signal cable series. Learn on set with our community of producers, get valuable behind-the-scenes experience and see your work on our cable channels!

This week: Studio Production Practice

Complete our series of Studio Volunteer workshops with a production! Put your new skills to use running a show in the studio. Work on a crew to complete a 30- to 45-minute show with our Studio Productions Coordinator & Trainer.

*** Please note: This workshop will train you on our studio equipment so you can join the crew on an existing Open Signal studio series. Completion of the full studio training series (4 sessions) will certify you to book time in the studios. Certification is dependent on one studio crew volunteer session, either on a community-led production or attending an Open Playground session. ***

Vo McBurney Studio Productions Coordinator & Trainer vo [at]

As the Studio Productions Coordinator & Trainer, I am here to ensure that your studio productions are a success. I can help you with everything from reserving your gear to answering (and solving) your HD studio questions.

I currently teach the Intro to Studio Production class, and am proficient in all of the gear that we have in our equipment library so feel free to reach out with any technical questions. I'm more of a Star Wars guy than a Star Trek guy, but I've been known to hang out with a few Trekkies.
