This week: Studio Lighting and Cameras!

The saying, “Lights! Camera! Action!” begins with lights and camera for a reason — take this introductory workshop and find out why. Learn about Open Signal’s HD television studios' lighting and cameras. Our instructors will show you how to use floor lights, the light board (including cyclorama lights), spots and Gobos, as well as how to properly light your talent and a green screen. This workshop will also show you the basics of television cameras in both of our studios, including robotic camera operation and tips on safe operation of camera pedestals. After completion of this free workshop you will be added to a list of volunteers willing to be contacted for lighting and camera assistance for our regularly produced television series.

** We require everyone ages 5+—regardless of vaccination status—to wear a mask inside our building. While on camera, only those participants who provide proof of vaccination or proof of negative test may be without a mask. Read our up to date facility safety policies here. **

*** Please note: This workshop will train you on our studio equipment so you can join the crew on an existing Open Signal studio series. Completion of workshop does not certify you to book time in the studios. ***

Instructor

Vo McBurney Educator/Facilitator vo [at] opensignalpdx.org

One of the first smiling faces that you will be greeted by when coming through the front doors, I can help you with everything from reserving your gear needs to answering (and solving) your HD studio questions.

I currently teach the Final Cut Pro X Editing, HD Studio and Mac Basics courses but am proficient in most of the gear that we have in our equipment library. I enjoy competing in as many film fests as possible and sing some mean karaoke.
