Talk to Us About Our Fundraising Campaign (Updated for December)

November 09, 2017

Our Development Manager, Marina, will be sitting in our lobby with free snacks and drinks for anyone who would like to talk about how we can structure our new fundraising program and what that means for our community. Visit her on the following dates:

  • Saturday, December 2, 2017: 1:00pm - 5:00pm
  • Sunday, December 3, 2017: 2:00pm - 6:00pm
  • Friday, December 8, 2017: 6:00pm - 10:00pm
  • Saturday, December 9, 2017: 3:00pm - 7:00pm

There will be a survey that you can take in private or with Marina. She’s also there to answer any questions you may have about the program (which is not yet complete.)

However you interact with Open Signal, and whichever way you feel about supporting the organization financially, please stop by the info booth; your perspective is valuable and necessary to building something that will sustain us and work for our unique community now and in the future.

Why Do We Need Donations?

Individuals are the most reliable and most generous source of non-profit funding. In hard times, when most funding sources dry up, Individuals tend to give more to the organizations they care about, keeping organizations afloat when they are most needed.

Until this year, we have been almost entirely dependent on funding from the cable companies, but that’s starting to change: thanks to our hardworking staff, we’ve received an unprecedented $189,359 in grant funding from Oregon institutions this year. In addition to ambitious grants and earned income goals, we have a goal to earn $100,000 per year in individual donations by the year 2020.

This will put us on solid ground in an ever-changing financial landscape and help to ensure that this valuable resource is here for the people of Portland in the future.
