New Media Fellow Exhibition: Black Life on Air

New Media Fellow Exhibition: Black Life on Air

A show of work from artist and winter 2019 New Media Fellow Sharita Towne.

Note: Registration is not necessary. This exhibition is open to all during our public hours!

Black Life on Air is an exhibition built from community captured audio. Some excerpts were recorded this past April, when StreamPDX's Airstream podcast trailer was parked in front of North Portland's In & Out Food Market for three days, inviting neighbors and community members in for a live podcast recording.

The results are paired with projected images and presented in this exhibition, where the public is invited to listen in and reflect on the conversations held that center around Black Life, community memory and organizing, changing neighborhoods and more.

Thank you to the Oregon Community Foundation and The Jane Schiffhauer Charitable Trust for supporting the 2018-19 New Media Fellowship.
