Signal Share: Meet FLI Social!

Signal Share: Meet FLI Social!

Signal Share is a place for Open Signal members to connect.

Building on our monthly member meetups, Signal Shares are a space for Open Signal members to connect! Each month, we gather with Open Signal staff, producers, supporters and special guests to catch up and share what we've been up to. All are welcome.

This month, we're welcoming in FLI Social! FLI Social is a platform designed to connect digital media creators to businesses. They hold a directory of videographers, photographers, and social media managers. FLI Social's mission is to increase the visibility of businesses while providing freelancers the opportunities to grow and make money in the process. If you’re a photographer, videographer or social media manager, they would love to have you in their directory.

Join us at Open Signal to meet the crew, chat and maybe even dream up some new possibilities! Register below.

Facilitator

Melissa Salazar Community Media Cohort Facilitator msalazar [at] opensignalpdx.org

Pronouns: she/her/hers

I provide direct support to producers, adjusting services and support based on unique needs. As part of the Community Media team, my primary role is to instruct equity-driven workshops to cohort students and work one-on-one to provide technical support.

I was born and raised in South Texas and have lived in Portland since 2012. After graduating from PNCA in 2015 I began working as a youth mentor. I'm excited to incorporate my skills to help others tell their stories. When not working I’m exploring in the forest, sitting next to water with a good book, drawing or watching baseball.

Open Signal is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for the community. Open Signal is a Safer Space for people of color, immigrants, gender non-conforming, low/no income groups, houseless, people with disabilities, linguistically diverse and other marginalized communities who have experienced systemic racism, sexism, classism and/or oppression. We encourage the creation and sharing of content that expresses a wide variety of cultural, social, political and spiritual perspectives. Treating all people with respect and kindness is expected - even if you don’t agree with all perspectives.

We require all members of our community to agree to our Safer Space Community Guidelines and to be accountable for the impact of their actions on others who use the space. Physical and verbal abuse will not be tolerated. All threats will be taken seriously, and will result in removal from the facility.
