Signal Share: Grip and Gaffer Skill Share

Signal Share: Grip and Gaffer Skill Share

Join us for an introduction to the world of grips and gaffers led by guest filmmaker Kevin Forrest.

Building on our monthly member meetups, Signal Shares are a space for Open Signal members to connect.  All members are welcome.

This month, we're joined by director, cinematographer and filmmaker Kevin Forrest, who will lead an introduction to the world of grips and gaffers for video and film. On set, grips handle anything not plugged in — c-stands, flags, nets, silks, cutters, bounce cards, bead board, frames for diffusions, etc. — and gaffers are the head electricians and production lighting managers.

In this skill share, we’ll discuss the tools, techniques and some of the jargon and terms. The goal is to demystify the world of the grip department and equip individuals with the confidence to create content using the tools of the trade.
