Are you between the ages of 15 to 24 and interested in making media and telling stories? We want to hear from YOU!

Are you passionate about creativity, self-expression, or mental health? Open Signal wants your voice to help shape an exciting new program that brings together media arts and mental health awareness. If you are between the ages of 15 and 24 and interested in creating your own content, telling stories or documenting the world around you through media, this opportunity is for you.

If you are a young creative in the Portland Metro area, Open Signal wants to hear your voice! 

We’re designing a program just for YOUth, where you can:

  • Learn skills like video production, animation, and storytelling.
  • Talk about mental health and how creativity can help.
  • Connect with peers and mentors in a safe, fun space.

I support the front of house staff at Open Signal who facilitate media education workshops, studio productions and community events. I also help create training curriculums focused on technical skill-building and equitable education practices for instructors, volunteers, and partnerships. I have worked in media arts education and nonprofit leadership for over a decade and can help you find the education path at Open Signal that best fits your goals.

I am the president emeritus at KBOO Community Radio, earned a BFA in Filmmaking and Social Justice at Evergreen State College and am currently seated on the national board for the Alliance for Community Media serving on the IEE caucus and on the DEIA Governance and Nomination Committees.

Community Membership

Join our community! Open Signal's membership program includes absolutely everyone.

This program will not only strengthen our community and deepen your experience as a community member, but it will also help diversify our funding streams, ensuring that our resources will be around to serve Portland for decades to come.

Open Signal is a Safer Space
