Giving to Open Signal will help us provide resources for honing media arts skills, empowering Portlanders to tell their story on their own terms. Every donation of $10 or more gets you free giveaways from local brands like Salt & Straw, Nossa Familia, Chinook Book and more.
We’ve also entered a promotional partnership with three other nonprofits included in the Give!Guide's 'Creative Expression' category: Friends of Noise, KBOO and XRAY.fm — each with a shared goal of making media more widely available to all Portlanders. You can give to any or all of these organizations at the same time through the Give!Guide.
While you're at it, match your donation to Open Signal with a donation to the Oregon Cultural Trust and get your OCT contribution back as a credit when you file your taxes. Your OCT gift will then be granted to cultural nonprofits, public cultural entities and tribal coalitions across the state. Learn more.
As part of this campaign, XRAY.fm recorded a mini-story on Open Signal’s Media Education Manager, KatMeow Garcia, showcasing how her commitment to creating access for marginalized people lead her to a career in education — and eventually, to Open Signal.
The piece can be streamed here, and you’ll have four chances to hear it on XRAY’s airwaves: during XRAY in the Morning on November 14 and December 29, and on the Thom Hartmann Program on November 21 and December 11.
