Youth Media Collective

Our Youth Media Collective supports youth ages 14–18 in exploring storytelling as a way to share their voices and connect with their communities.

About

The Youth Media Collective is a free collaborative for youth ages 14–18 to explore storytelling, journalism, and media production in a supportive, youth-centered environment.  Through hands-on training in media production, mentorship, and media literacy education, participants develop skills that support self-expression. They produce original story ideas and shape the program together through creativity and care for community.  They also explore visual narratives as a way to create art that reflects their experiences and perspectives on health and well-being.

With guidance from Open Signal staff and industry mentors, youth gain experience in teamwork, on-set safety, and critical thinking—valuable skills that open doors to future opportunities in media and beyond.

The next Collective runs March 4th, 2026 through July 29th, 2026. Join our Youth Listening Session on Wednesday, February 18th to learn more and help shape the next round of the program.
