Opportunities for Media-Makers and Activists

April 24, 2017

We encourage our producers, students and media-maker community to share their work both on our channels and with local and national venues.

With that in mind, here are some great upcoming grants, calls for submissions and volunteer opportunities:

  • Are you a female photographer under 30? You are eligible for this grant, due April 30!
  • Here's a grant for anyone with a documentary film in advanced development (up to $10,000) or production and post-production stages (up to $25,000). Deadline: May 15. We know we have some producers who are eligible for this one!
  • Submissions are open now for The UNAFF International Documentary Film Festival. Their theme this year is RESPECT, and they're looking for work that celebrates human rights and sustainable development.
  • Want to win a $5,000 development deal? Form a team with other filmmakers in your area and sign up for the Collaboration Filmmakers Challenge. Details at collaborationchallenge.com. You do NOT have to live in LA to participate.
  • Interested in volunteering at a conference for queer youth? On May 13, several hundred queer youth from all over the Northwest will come together to share their ideas and open hearts, see keynote speeches, eat delicious food and dance it out at a queer prom, at The Oregon Queer Youth Summit, held at PCC Cascade Campus.

The 2017 summit theme is DIY RESISTANCE: Solidarity, Self Care, & Survival. If you'd like to volunteer, RSVP at oqys.org. Scholarships are available for those who need help with transportation.
