Spring 2026 Production Cohort Applications Open Until January 30th!
January 06, 2026
Open Signal's Production Cohort is a six-month, hands-on program designed to support beginner-level individual media makers and small teams as they bring a video project to life. Build your creative and technical skillset in a supportive learning environment with a vibrant community of media makers who, just like you, are diligently working on a project.
Move through the full production process, from pre-production to post-production. You'll be supported with training, guidance, and access to professional tools.
The cohort includes:
-
Required video production, studio, equipment, and post-production trainings
-
Weekly work sessions and monthly one-on-ones with a dedicated facilitator
-
A mid-point project review to ensure your timeline and scope are on track
-
Access to Open Signal’s studios, cameras, lighting, and editing facilities
-
A culminating group screening of completed work
Trainings are required for certification on any gear you plan to use for your project and are designed to build confidence, skills, and independence as a media maker.
If accepted, participants commit to:
-
Attending all scheduled Tuesday and Thursday trainings from March 5 – April 16, 2026, 6pm – 9pm
-
Ongoing work sessions and check-ins through July
-
Submitting a 5–15 minute video for the final screening
-
Attending the final screening on Saturday, July 27, 2026 at Open Signal
Note: This opportunity is also open to youth ages 14–17 (participants under 16 must attend all sessions with a guardian and all participants under 18 must include a guardian on their application).
If you’re ready to learn, collaborate, and grow in your filmmaking journey while bringing your ideas to the screen we encourage you to apply! We can’t wait to see what stories you’ll bring into the world.
