An open invitation to young creatives who are curious about journalism, media creation and storytelling!
Open Signal is hosting a Youth Listening Session to hear directly from young creatives about local news, storytelling, creativity, and well-being! We'll also share details about the next season of our Youth Media Program.
This is an open invitation for youth who are curious about journalism, interviews, video production, or creative storytelling — no experience required. Pizza will be provided.
What We’ll Talk About
- How youth want local news and stories to be told
- Street interviews and “Portland temperature checks” on well-being
- Youth-led media, workshops, and monthly productions
- How creativity and well-being connect to journalism and storytelling
- Opportunities to work on both group projects and your own ideas
About the Youth Media Program
Our Youth Media program nurtures young creatives, helping them share their voices, connect with their communities, and explore careers in media. Through hands-on training in journalism, media production, and media literacy, participants learn to document local stories, conduct interviews, and create meaningful news and media projects. Youth gain skills in storytelling, teamwork, critical thinking, and on-set safety — all while exploring how creativity supports personal and community well-being.
