Open Signal's Production Cohort is a six-month, hands-on program designed to support beginner-level individual media makers and small teams as they bring a video project to life. Build your creative and technical skillset in a supportive learning environment with a vibrant community of media makers who, just like you, are diligently working on a project. Apply by July 21st!
Move through the full production process, from pre-production to post-production. You'll be supported with training, guidance, and access to professional tools.
The cohort includes:
- Required video production, studio, equipment, and post-production trainings
- Weekly work sessions and monthly one-on-ones with a dedicated facilitator
- A mid-point project review to ensure your timeline and scope are on track
- Access to Open Signal’s studios, cameras, lighting, and editing facilities
- A culminating group screening of completed work
Trainings are required for certification on any gear you plan to use for your project and are designed to build confidence, skills, and independence as a media maker.
If accepted, participants commit to:
- Attending all scheduled Tuesday and Thursday trainings between August 20, 2026 and October 15, 2026, 6pm – 9pm
- Ongoing work sessions and check-ins through July
- Submitting a 5–15 minute video for the final screening
- Attending the final screening on Saturday, January 23, 2027 at Open Signal
Note: This opportunity is also open to youth ages 14–17 (participants under 16 must attend all sessions with a guardian and all participants under 18 must include a guardian on their application).
