Summer '23 Production Cohort Info Session
  • Cost: Free
  • Capacity: 25

Interested in getting one-on-one support for a project you're working on? Join us to learn about our Summer '23 production cohort!

Our free production cohorts provide a support system for media makers with a story to tell. Our cohorts are open to individual media makers, teams and nonprofits interested in creating video work in a supportive community setting. Join us at Open Signal to learn more about this opportunity from Community Media Cohort Facilitator Melissa Salazar and our Community Media team. We'll cover the timeline, application process and expectations for the program. Read more about the cohort here.

Applications for the Summer 2023 cohort are open May 5th - 19th. The cohort will run from July 2023 through November 2023.

Can't attend this session but would like more information? Contact Melissa at msalazar [at] opensignalpdx.org.

The cohort supports storytelling rooted in the lived experience of communities that have been historically excluded from mainstream media:

Facilitator

Melissa Salazar Community Media Cohort Facilitator msalazar [at] opensignalpdx.org

Pronouns: she/her/hers

I provide direct support to producers, adjusting services and support based on unique needs. As part of the Community Media team, my primary role is to instruct equity-driven workshops to cohort students and work one-on-one to provide technical support.

I was born and raised in South Texas and have lived in Portland since 2012. After graduating from PNCA in 2015 I began working as a youth mentor. I'm excited to incorporate my skills to help others tell their stories. When not working I’m exploring in the forest, sitting next to water with a good book, drawing or watching baseball.
